Last week, the European registration procedure was completed, allowing Phenoxypen\u00ae to be used in pigs in all 19 countries where the product is already authorised for poultry. The product is introduced to the market years ago by Dopharma as a unique narrow\u2011spectrum penicillin for administration via drinking water for chickens.<\/p>\n<h3><span data-text-color=\"primary\">Practical and effective approach with a narrow\u2011spectrum penicillin<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Penicillins are considered the most effective treatment option for streptococcal infections in pigs. Phenoxypen\u00ae contains the narrow\u2011spectrum penicillin phenoxymethylpenicillin, enabling an <strong>effective and targeted treatment<\/strong>. In addition, the product is highly water\u2011soluble and acid\u2011resistant, making it <strong>practical and suitable for oral administration through drinking water.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h3><span data-text-color=\"primary\">Significance for the pig sector<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>The availability of a narrow\u2011spectrum penicillin for administration via drinking water is an important contribution to the <strong>One Health objectives<\/strong> in pig farming. Thanks to the targeted Gram\u2011positive spectrum of phenoxymethylpenicillin, streptococcal infections can now be treated effectively while exerting less selective pressure on Gram\u2011negative bacteria.
