Daarnaast zijn autogene vaccins vrijgesteld van vergunningsplicht. Dit wil zeggen dat voor deze vaccins geen specifieke veiligheids- en werkzaamheidstests per individuele batch worden uitgevoerd.<\/p>\n<p>De verdraagbaarheid van autogene vaccins wordt be\u00efnvloed door een breed scala aan factoren. De gebruikte antigenen (pathogenen) kunnen verantwoordelijk zijn voor een eventuele ongewenste reactie. Aangezien deze antigenen door de dierenarts per batch aangepast kunnen worden, kan de verdraagbaarheid van batch tot batch verschillen. Ook kan wijziging van het adjuvans de reactie na vaccinatie be\u00efnvloeden. Bovendien kunnen individuen danwel diergroepen met verschillende genetische achtergronden verschillend reageren op een vaccinatie. Intolerantiereacties kunnen bestaan uit een acute allergische reactie, algemene symptomen (zoals koorts, lusteloosheid en een verhoogde ademhaling en\/of hartslag), lokale reacties (zoals zwelling en roodheid), of invloed op prestatieparameters (zoals bijvoorbeeld melkproductie).<\/p>\n<p>Het is de verantwoordelijkheid van de behandelend dierenarts om bij het gebruik van autogene vaccins bijzondere zorgvuldigheid in acht te nemen. Om de onzekerheid op gebied van verdraagbaarheid te ondervangen, wordt bij iedere batch een proefflacon geleverd. Aanbevolen wordt om hiermee bij iedere nieuwe batch een proefvaccinatie uit te voeren bij 2 tot 5 dieren. Na toediening dienen deze dieren te worden gecontroleerd en de daaropvolgende dagen te worden geobserveerd.
