Do you have relevant work experience or practitioner experience?

During my study I had a wide range of part-time jobs.  From being a assistant at multiple veterinary clinics for pets to being a croupier. After my graduation I worked for 10 years as a farm animal veterinarian in the field, specialized in swine for the last 7 years.

What are your main tasks?

Answering questions from the field, and with that, providing a helpline for veterinarians in the field. I also handle all vaccine-related matters, from advice and order processing to communicating results. While broadly disseminating veterinary knowledge.

What do you like the most about your job?

In the field, I always felt like I didn’t have enough time to thoroughly investigate things and thus increase my own knowledge. that sometimes made me feel like my growth curve had stalled a bit. Now it’s (one of my) task(s) to dig deep into (some) subjects. It energizes me to help others with that possibility.

Is there anything else you’d like to share with us?

My favorite poultry disease is coccidiosis due to the years of field investigation, which was finalized with PhD “ Epidemiology of invasion by protozoa of the genera Eimeria in broilers flocks vaccinated and unvaccinated against coccidiosis”. Next to that I am interested in new diagnostics methods for the evaluation of efficacy immune prophylaxis programs for poultry, factors which can influence immune response and interactions between host-pathogens-environment.

This fits with my every working day motto: “Move science to practice and drive the business!’’
